KiloGrit Analytics and Data Use Notice

For KiloGrit: Workout Journal

Effective date: August 7, 2026

This Notice explains what first-party product analytics KiloGrit collects in the iOS app, why it is collected, and how you can control it. It supplements the KiloGrit Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. It is written in the same plain-language style used by many apps that measure feature usage and technical reliability.

1. What this analytics is

KiloGrit uses a small first-party analytics service hosted by KiloGrit. It helps us understand which parts of the workout journal are useful, where people stop in a flow, which device and iOS configurations need attention, and whether data delivery is working reliably.

This is product analytics, not advertising analytics. We do not use it to follow you across other companies' apps or websites, build an advertising profile, sell information, or show targeted advertising. KiloGrit does not use a third-party analytics SDK or advertising SDK for these events.

Analytics events are not sent until you enable analytics. During first-time setup, the analytics checkbox is enabled by default so you can see the choice clearly before finishing setup. You can clear it before continuing. After analytics has been enabled, you can turn it off at any time in the app's Settings.

When analytics is turned off, new events are not created for transmission. Events waiting in the local queue are cleared. Turning analytics off does not disable the workout journal, Apple Watch features, Apple Health features, or local reminders.

3. Usage events

The event names and properties are allow-listed. Depending on the feature, they can describe the following categories:

App lifecycle and navigation

The app can record installation, update, app open, session start, background, and screen-view events. Screen views use a screen category such as Home, Builder, Active Workout, History, Profile, or Settings rather than a free-form page address.

Setup and preferences

The app can record onboarding progress, whether setup was completed, the selected high-level goal category, experience level, equipment count, language, theme, accent, notification, sound, vibration, Live Activity, and analytics settings. It does not send the profile text or body measurements.

Workout and plan behavior

The app can record that a workout, set, rest timer, training plan, template, history view, progress view, or export action was started, completed, paused, skipped, abandoned, or changed. It may include bounded counts, positions, categories, completion percentages, duration buckets, and whether a note exists. It does not send the text of notes, raw weight values, raw repetitions, or the contents of your workout history.

Some exercise-related events may contain an internal exercise identifier so we can identify broken catalog flows. The identifier is sent without the exercise name or exercise description.

Reliability and permission signals

The app can record startup, migration, synchronization, analytics delivery, notification permission, reminder, Apple Watch connection, Apple Health permission, and Health synchronization results. Health-related analytics contains only permission or connection status. It does not contain heart-rate samples, active energy, workout routes, or other Health data.

4. Device and technical context

An event may include:

  1. A pseudonymous installation identifier, session identifier, and event identifier generated by the app. These identifiers are used to group technical events from one installation; they are not your name, email address, or an account ID.
  2. The event time, app version, build number, iOS version, device model, phone or tablet category, app language, time zone, and release channel such as local build, TestFlight, or App Store.
  3. Bounded event properties listed in the allow-listed catalog described above.

The server may receive an IP address as a standard technical part of an HTTPS request. We do not use the IP address as the user identifier in analytics reports.

5. Information we do not send as product analytics

KiloGrit does not send the following to the analytics service:

  1. Your name, email address, account credentials, or contact list.
  2. Profile text, age, height, weight, notes, exercise names, exercise descriptions, raw set values, or the contents of your workout history.
  3. Heart-rate samples, active-energy values, workout routes, or other Apple Health data.
  4. Location, contacts, calendar, camera, photo-library content, Bluetooth data, advertising identifier, or cross-app browsing history.
  5. Advertising events, targeted-audience attributes, or data purchased from data brokers.

6. Purpose and access

We use the data to measure aggregate product performance, understand feature adoption, improve onboarding and workout flows, investigate technical failures, compare release channels, and plan product improvements. Access is limited to the KiloGrit owner and authorized operators who need it to maintain the service and analyze the product.

The admin workspace shows aggregate and bounded event information. It is protected by authentication and is not a public analytics dashboard.

7. Retention and deletion

The current service configuration is designed to retain raw event records for no longer than 90 days. Daily aggregate metrics are retained for no longer than 730 days (24 months). A cleanup process removes records past those limits.

Turning analytics off stops future collection and clears events that have not left your device. Previously received pseudonymous records remain subject to the retention limits above. If you need to ask about a privacy request or deletion of information associated with a support request, contact andrey.fxz@gmail.com.

8. Security and transfers

Events are sent to the KiloGrit server over HTTPS. The service is hosted on KiloGrit's infrastructure. We do not sell or rent analytics data, and we do not disclose it for advertising.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the limited nature of this data.

9. Changes and contact

We may update this Notice when the app's analytics catalog, server, or privacy practices change. The current version is available at https://kilo-grit.verymad.net/analytics-policy-en.md.
